Opening of Sabir 10th edition: “10 years of Fortress Europe, 10 years of struggle and solidarity”

The Sabir Festival was born in 2014 one year after the Lampedusa massacre on October 3, 2013. Since then and in the ten years since, European policies have continued to cause massacres at the EU’s external and internal borders.

Civil society, movements, and trade unions, along with survivors and family members of border victims, have continued to meet to develop alternative proposals to racist policies.

The opening meeting will allow us to look back at some of the key moments of the last 10 years, the challenges we have taken up, and the initiatives and proposals that together we have put in place to counter the policies of border externalization and the criminalization of immigration and solidarity.
